What I did over break

             Over break I was extremely sick. I stayed home the entire week except for my brother's birthday. We went to Dave and Busters while I was unwell because his birthday is immutable. Not only did I have a common cold, but I also had an eye infection that impaired my vision. My sickness was to the point where it was imperative that I went to see a doctor. On the last day of break I made plans with friends however  I was impecunious. I importuned my older sister to lend me some money but she refused.

In class we worked on a comic strip with our vocab words.

 In the 6th grade I had a friend named Ruben. We were very close at the time. However, Ruben did not return to my middle school the next year. I had no way of getting in contact with him because his parents were very strict with Ruben and did not allow him on social media. I often find myself forgetting about him entirely. A conversation that changed me.

         I've always tried copying whatever my older brother did. It's because I looked up to him. I copied his entire personality including bad traits. He wasn't attentive in class and regularly skipped school and I began to do the same. After an argument with my mom about my grades, my brother wanted to talk. He explained to me that he wanted what was best for me and that it was in my best interest to get everything together. In class today we worked on a vocabulary assignment. I learned new vocabulary words. It could possibly help in the future to improve my writing.

      Today in class we did a Newsela assignment on pros and cons of the Pledge of Allegiance. There was a fire drill and we lost some class time. The lesson today taught me about different reasons for standing for the pledge and reasons for not standing. Both sides have their reasons and it's important to remember that standing for the pledge is not mandatory in the U.S. I had a good time in class and learned something new.
