My favorite word

 My favorite word right now is grateful. It’s a simple word, but it means a lot to me. It’s a reminder to appreciate the little things in life. I find myself using it more often, especially when I’m reflecting on what I’m thankful for.

Today in class we worked on vocab lesson 11. I learned new words that I can use in the future to improve my writing.

Someone I forgot

 In the 6th grade I had a friend named Ruben. We were very close at the time. However, Ruben did not return to my middle school the next year. I had no way of getting in contact with him because his parents were very strict with Ruben and did not allow him on social media. I often find myself forgetting about him entirely. A conversation that changed me.

         I've always tried copying whatever my older brother did. It's because I looked up to him. I copied his entire personality including bad traits. He wasn't attentive in class and regularly skipped school and I began to do the same. After an argument with my mom about my grades, my brother wanted to talk. He explained to me that he wanted what was best for me and that it was in my best interest to get everything together. In class today we worked on a vocabulary assignment. I learned new vocabulary words. It could possibly help in the future to improve my writing.

A secret being revealed.

           A couple years ago my entire family went to my oldest sister's house for Thanksgiving. She lived there with her boyfriend at the time. It went well and I remember enjoying myself with all of my cousins. Just as the night was coming to an end, my sister said she and her boyfriend had an announcement to make. She informed everyone she was 2 months pregnant. For the most part, everyone was excited including me.
